High Frequency Word Assessments

There are two assessments of the High Frequency Rainbow Words.
  • Your child needs to be able to read  aloud each word within 3 seconds.
  • Your child must also be able to detect the correct spelling for each word.
  •  I also give students a challenge dictation sentence. Students must spell all words correctly within the sentence and use proper capitalization and punctuation. If correct, students earn a bonus point. If incorrect, students' scores are not adversely effected.

Treasures Reading Assessments

LAUSD had adopted California Treasures as the new reading series for the 2011-2012 school year.

The DIBELS assessment dates are as follows for all students:
  • Beginning of Year Assessment : September 26-October 7, 2011
  • Middle of Year Assessment : February 21-March 2, 2012
  • End of Year Assessment : June 4-15, 2012
Some students who need more frequent progress monitoring will be assessed monthly or bi-monthly.


Writing Assessment:
  • Personal Narrative : Nov. 10, 2011
  • Narrative Story : Jan. 20, 2012
  • Description : March 9, 2012
  • Book Report : May 4, 2012
  • How-To Article : June 22, 2012

Mathematics Assessments

Topic 10 Time Assessment will be on Wednesday, January 18. Be sure to take the practice tests that are assigned on the Pearson website.

These assessment are District mandated and are given each quarter. 
  • !st Quarter Assessment: November 8-10, 2011
  • 2nd Quarter Assessment: February 7-9, 2012
  • 3rd Quarter Assessment: April 17-19, 2012
  • 4th Quarter Assessment: none
